Niagara On The Lake Nationals Join GMHL

by Spencer De Wolfe

The  Niagara On The Lake Nationals would like to formally announce that effective July 27th the club has decided to join the Greater Metro Hockey League. We had notified the CPJHL of our decision to join the GMHL prior to this past weekend contrary to the CPJHL’s statement.  A statement from Owner Spencer De Wolfe “ We informed the CPJHL we were moving in a different direction due to many factors to make the franchise successful which included recent events which had come to light in the CPJHL which was affecting recruiting for our hockey club.” De Wolfe further stated “ We made the move to the GMHL so the hockey club could assure our players a consistent high level of competition amongst a League that was well established for over 10 plus years in Canada and I want to thank the CPJHL for the opportunity that unfortunately did not work out with the direction we wanted to go in.” The Niagara on The Lake Nationals will continue its operations unaffected by this move as we feel this is a positive move in the right direction for the franchise. The GMHL has over 20 plus organizations which has a consistent track record of high quality hockey it’s players have come to expect as well as a documented track record of moving players on to the next level. The move to the GMHL will also offer more options for players born between the years 1997-2002 with less limitations to join the organization and will also offer more options for players from the USA and Europe to participate. The Niagara On The Lake Nationals assure all of our players, staff, and business partners this is a move in the right direction for the positive growth of the franchise. The organization will announce a full GMHL schedule soon as well as Main camp dates and times. The Niagara On The Lake Nationals are looking forward to a exciting inaugural season.
